House Stories Podcast
Uncover fascinating stories of the Opera House’s rich cultural heritage and design legacy in our new podcast series exploring the building as a work of art.
“An intriguing deep dive into the stories behind Australia’s most treasured and famous building. I’ve read about these stories but the first-hand oral histories in the podcast offer a richer way of understanding them. I wish there were more design and culture focused podcasts like this!”

THE BRIEF
When the Concert Hall closed its doors for extensive renovations in 2020, the Sydney Opera House engaged Audiocraft to produce a podcast that could document the history and pivotal stories of the people and events that helped shape the space into what it is today.
The series, Season Two of their House Stories podcast, launched with the reopening of the Concert Hall space after renovations were complete.
WHAT WE DID
Audiocraft conducted a workshop with the Sydney Opera House team to better understand the project’s aims, listener demographic and potential for the series.
Following this, the team undertook significant research into the Concert Hall’s history and uncovered little known and unique stories and characters that played a part in its legacy.
We oversaw talent sourcing, helped research and engage a host (Zindzi Okenyo), wrote scripts, sourced archival audio, produced in-person and remote interviews with the host and talent, sourced additional audio and music, then edited and mixed episodes.
A significant part of this series was working with First Nations talent, voices, and themes, including archival material. We consulted with Aboriginal-owned production company GARUWA/SHIFTING GROUND for valuable editorial support.
