Seen
If you can see it, you can be it. But what happens when you look around and nobody looks like you? Yumi Stynes speaks with formidable cultural creatives who, in spite of arriving in a role-model vacuum, rose to excellence anyway.
“I think it cracks open the scope of what we view as ‘Australia’ or ‘Australians’, so if you want to widen your understanding of who makes up the population of this wonderful country, then this podcast introduces some inspiring Australians who you’ll be glad to meet.”

SYNOPSIS
If you can see it, you can be it. But what happens when you look around and nobody looks like you?
In this podcast, host Yumi Stynes speaks with formidable cultural creatives who, in spite of arriving in a role-model vacuum, rose to excellence anyway.
We hear stories from trailblazers like writer Yassmin Abdel-Magied, punk rocker Ray Ahn, and Olympian Ellia Green about the transformative moment they first felt seen.
WHAT WE DID
The idea for Seen was an original created by Audiocraft producer Bernadette Phương Nam Nguyễn and developed with the Audiocraft team. We engaged Yumi Stynes as the host and were thrilled to find our dream broadcast partner when SBS commissioned the project in 2022.
A full Audiocraft team was then assembled to bring the show to life. A lot of thought and care were put into the research and development of each episode, and the same rigour was applied to the story crafting in the scripting process, and the final mix and sound design.
The passion for this project and its themes were also shared by our original composer Yeo, and graphic design company EviO Studios, who came up with the podcast’s vibrant look.
