Search Engine Sex
Spotify Australia’s first original podcast, exploring all your most burning sex and relationship questions.
“Search Engine Sex is relatable as much as it is refreshing, making leaps and bounds for candid sex conversations with no biases attached.”
— Jessica Best, Urban List
THE BRIEF
Joining forces with Rowdie Walden, a finalist in Spotify’s Sound Up accelerator program dedicated to amplifying the voices of First Nations people, Audiocraft was tasked with bringing his winning Search Engine Sex pitch to life. Through this series, Spotify wanted to showcase the best talent in Australia, while also carving out a new space for themselves as original content creators in the burgeoning podcast landscape.
WHAT WE DID
Working with Rowdie, we spent the early stages of production developing a strong format and distinctive tone. Being Spotify Australia’s first original podcast, it was important the series stood out, and the voice and sound aligned with the Spotify brand.
With each episode framed around a commonly searched sex and relationship question, we went out looking for answers and recorded interviews with guests from all over the world. We then worked closely with Rowdie to write scripts that thoughtfully navigated sensitive, taboo and unchartered topics, leaning on his humour and charm to keep audiences engaged.
This project was very much a team effort – we consulted with a script editor to ensure the information provided was up-to-date and anatomically accurate, our original theme track was produced to match Rowdie’s energy and Spotify’s stature, and the technical mix brought together all elements to ensure a dynamic sound and upbeat pace.
After the success of the first season, a second season was launched and rolled out.
